Here was today’s Ultimate Sinner on Ozzy’s Boneyard (SiriusXM channel 38).

  1. Ozzy Osbourne – You Can’t Kill Rock and Roll
  2. Iron Maiden – Aces High
  3. Megadeth – Death From Within
  4. Motley Crüe – Too Young to Fall In Love
  5. Metallica –  One

This was a pretty solid set. Some thoughts on this week’s songs.

“You Can’t Kill Rock and Roll” is off of Ozzy’s Diary of a Madman album, which in my opinion was his best solo album. This is the second best song on the album besides the title track. I always get a kick out of hearing this song played on the Boneyard.

Iron Maiden is my favorite band, so of course anytime one of their songs is on Ultimate Sinner, it’s a good set. “Aces High”, off of Iron Maiden’s epic Powerslave album, will always get me fired up. This tune often kicks off their live shows, preceded by Winston Churchill’s famous “we shall fight on the beaches” speech during World War II. Check out this YouTube video of Maiden’s guitarist Adrian Smith and the Iron Maiden road crew, aka the Killer Krew, doing a performance of “Aces High” during the coronavirus lockdown.

I like Megadeth although I’m not a huge fan, and sometimes I’m just not feeling it. Today was one of those days.

“Too Young to Fall In Love”, from the Shout At The Devil album, was the first Motley Crüe song I ever heard. I always got a kick out of the music video with it’s cheesy martial arts fight scene, and Tommy Lee grabbing a bite on the way out.

Metallica’s …And Justice For All album came out during my sophomore year in college, and my buddies and I listened to it non-stop. “One” was the first song Metallica ever shot a video for, and it’s a powerful and memorable video. Check it out if you’ve never seen it.

So overall, a pretty solid set list today. I’d give it a 4 out of 5 stars. If you want to hear it yourself, you can search for “Ultimate Sinner” on the SiriusXM app or on their website.
